Soy is safe and free from hormonal side-effects
/A Research Review by Benjamin Brown N.D/
The safety of soy phytoestrogens has been the topic of concern. A new
large scale meta-analysis of 92 randomized controlled trials with 9629
participants has found they are safe, well tolerated and not associated
with hormone-related side effects. This is important reassurance for the
many women who use soy phytoestrogens for menopausal relief.
This study compared the incidence of side effects of soy phytoestrogens
with placebo. The analysis found that soy phytoestrogen supplements have
a safe side-effect profile with moderately elevated rates of
gastrointestinal side effects. Gynaecological, musculoskeletal,
neurological and unspecific side effects were not significantly
different between soy phytoestrogens and placebo. Importantly soy
phytoestrogens were not associated with vaginal bleeding, endometrial
hyperplasia, endometrial cancer or breast cancer.
*Comment:*
This is good news for women seeking an alternative to hormone
replacement therapy. /"Based on our findings, they can be assured that
there is no indication of serious unwanted side effects of phytoestrogen
treatment such as those found in women on hormone replacement therapy,
for example, thrombosis, myocardial infarction, stroke, and breast
cancer"/ wrote that authors.

Magnesium is a Missing Link in The Gut-Obesity Connection
*A remarkable new study has found that magnesium deficiency may decrease
bifidobacteria, cause leaky gut, increase systemic inflammation and
subsequently lead to weight gain, diabetes and heart disease. *
Mice fed magnesium deficient diets had declines in bifidobacterium.
Bifidobacterium are known to maintain a healthy gut barrier and not
surprisingly magnesium deficient mice had increased leaky gut. Leaky gut
leads to increased translocation of endotoxin. Endotoxin activates the
inflammatory response both in the gut and systemically. Leaky gut and
systemic inflammation has recently been linked to the development of
obesity, diabetes and heart disease in humans. This study found
increased inflammatory markers in the liver and intestine of magnesium
deficient mice suggesting magnesium deficiency may lead to disease
development through an influence on gut flora and the development of
leaky gut.
*Comment: *
Magnesium deficiency is very common and related to increased low-grade
inflammation and the development of chronic disease such as
hypertension, obesity and type-2 diabetes. The way in which magnesium
influences the inflammatory response however is still poorly
understood. This study suggests, for the first time, that the
optimization of magnesium intake may exert positive effects through a
prebiotic influence on gut bacterial populations in turn reducing leaky
gut and lowering systemic inflammation.

10 best phones for low radiation output
...we think it's smart for consumers to buy phones with the lowest
emissions. Before you buy, check out devices you're considering for
radiation output <http://www.ewg.org/cellphoneradiation/8-Safety-Tips>.
Levels vary widely, from 0 .3 to 1.6, the legal limit, measured in watts
per kilogram of body weight, also known as SAR (specific absorption
rate), the amount of radiofrequency energy absorbed by the body when
using a wireless device phone.
